0. Basic ideas
XRandR stands for X Window System Resize and Rotate, which is a extention to old X Window System. XRandR makes X Window System
(1) does NOT need xorg.conf any more;
(2) supports multiple monitors dynamically without rebooting.
1. Get the vedio output interfaces' names
$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1924 x 1440, maximum 16384 x 16384

2 Turn off a monitor
$ xrandr --output VGA-1 --off
3 Turn on a monitor
$ xrandr --output VGA-1 --auto
4 Duplicate monitor1 to monitor 2
$ xrandr --output VGA-1 --same-as LVDS-1
5 Extend monitor1 to monitor 2
# monitor 2 is placed on the right of monitor 1
$ xrandr --output VGA-1 --right-of LVDS-1
6 Rotate the picture on a monitor
# rotate 90 degrees to left
$ xrandr --output VGA-1 --rotate left
